Obituary of Peter Horst Syben

Peter Horst Syben, born March 19, 1940 in Aussig, Germany to Isolde and Hubert Syben, passed away on Sunday, August 29 at home. He built his dream home in Lacey, Washington in 1980, and resided there for the past 30 years. A retired army officer, with a degree in Chemical Engineering from UC Berkeley, he also worked for the State of Washington for 25 years before retiring a second time. He spent a great part of the last several years pursuing one of his passions, traveling the world. In addition to his loving wife of 48 years, Ute Syben, he is survived by his brother, Michael Syben, his daughters, Heike Syben and Christine Antoniuk, and his grandchildren, Colin Syben-Garcia, Audrey Antoniuk and Montana Antoniuk. Peter had an immense zest for life, and delighted in sharing it with everyone. A huge void has been created by his absence, which occurred very suddenly and much too soon. We dearly miss him. A memorial service to celebrate Peter’s life will be held at Funeral Alternatives, 2830 Willamette Drive NE, Suite G, in Lacey, Washington, 98516 @ 1:00 pm on Monday, September 6.
