Obituary of Duane Larsen

With great sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Duane Larsen on August 13, 2010 at the age of 76. The oldest of four children, Duane was born in Hordville, Nebraska, to Holger and Vivian Larsen on October 21, 1933.Duane was predeceased by his father, Holger, and will be sorely missed by his mother, Vivian; brothers, Melvin, Neal and Lynn; son Jeffrey (Candi); daughters, Joy (Thamir) Hassan and Julie Larsen; grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Amir, Najim, Yousef, Ayman and Zachary; as well as by other relatives and his many good friends. Duane will be remembered for his many and varied skills, ranging from sewing machine repairs to automotive and heavy equipment repairs, from small woodworking projects to major construction projects, from gardening and preserving foods to gourmet cooking, from water well and pump maintenance to electrical and plumbing repairs. Duane operated the family farm on Carpenter Road for many years, raising hay and blueberries. There didn’t seem to be much that Duane couldn’t do. His skills and willingness to help others will be deeply missed. Family suggests memorial donations to the Westminster Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
