Wow. I was looking for a page for my dad who just passed away this weekend. I had no idea this page for my grandma existed. I appreciate these kind words and thoughts. Grandma died just a few weeks before my son was born. It would be greedy to ask for more than very nearly 102 years from a person. I got 40 with her. But, I know I was supremely lucky - I got to be close to two really great grandmas I knew without a doubt loved me.

Dear Baker Family,
I (Munro) worked with Flavilla at Wash. Jr. High and then at Reeves for approx. 15-20 years while she taught Algerbra and I taught Social Studies.
I knew her to be a kind, soft spoken, and very professional person with a lot of character and a unique personality. We chatted occasionally before and after school and while sharing a ride to school. For a period of about a year we only had one car, Flavilla drove to my house every morning and picked me up for lift to work! She told me stories of her adventures on the bay in her little row boat. She also talked of her sons, of whom she was expecially proud.
I think of Flavilla from time to time with happy, fond memories. She was an interesting person and I'm lucky to have made her acquaintance. I know she will be dearly missed by her family and close friends. My condolences to you all. --Munro
(From Sally) I have happy memories of the Bakers: Occasional visits to their house, walks on the beach, Flavilla's loom, Don's old (antique) car garage.
Flavilla was such a kind, thoughtful, gracious lady. It was a pleasure to have known her. My goodness, nearly 102 years; a well deserved long life.
My sympathy to Winston and Harlin and the families--Sally

I was one of the many neighborhood children who were blessed to grow up around the Baker family in the 1970s. I remember the many times we were invited into the Baker home for a snack or a drink of water as we were out exploring the beach or the woods surrounding our homes. To this day I have vivid memories of my brother and me sitting in our wagon and riding it down the looped driveway that ended near the front door of the Baker’s home. What a lovely family and a wonderful lady. You will be in my prayers.

Flavilla was my neighbor on Cooper Point for over 30 years. As a child I remember her taking me for rides on the bay in that little row boat and spending time on the beach with her and her friend Margaret McKinney. She was soft spoken, kind, and always remembered me and my children. She was a wonderful lady and will be truly missed. God's grace to Winston and Harlin and their families.

Dear Baker Family,
I had the privilege of having Mrs. Baker as my math teacher at Reeves Junior High (as it was then known). She was a great teacher and helped me learn math on a personal level. She would take time before or after the class too. One thing I will always remember and envy was her handwriting. It was so classic and elegant. I think of my teachers at Reeves and I was blessed to have Mrs. Baker.
My thoughts and prayers are with all the Baker family and friends.
