Ronald Wade

Obituary of Ronald Lawrence Wade

Ronald Lawrence Wade, 78, passed away Monday, November 29, 2010 at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. He leaves his wife of 54 years, Dorothy (Chapman) Wade; his son, Jeffrey Wade, and his partner, Sonia Pena; his daughter, Suzanne Wade and her husband Randy Rhodes; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Ron was a veteran of the Korean War, where he proudly served as a United States Navy Hospital Corpsman. After serving three years, he returned to Utah and received his Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Utah. After working as a clinical social worker in Utah, he took the opportunity to move to Olympia in 1969 to work at the Dept. of Social and Health Services, ultimately retiring from the State as a Mental Health Program Administrator. He also taught numerous evening management classes prior to retiring. Ron loved both music and travel. There were very few countries that he and Dorothy did not visit, and Ron took pride in the fact that they were able to visit every country on their wish list. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the physicians, nurses and staff at Providence St. Peter Hospital and Group Health for his exemplary care. Ron was also passionate about his charities and the family respectfully asks that memorial donations be sent to the charity of your choice.
