Richard Schneider

Obituary of Richard L. Schneider

Richard went home on August 27, 2010 at St. Peters Hospital in Olympia. He was born in Ohio in 1929 and lived both in Toledo and Cleveland, Ohio. He joined the army and served “overseas” in Alaska in the Military Police. We have heard many stories of his adventures in Alaska and his travels after. He and his wife, Mary, were married in October 1957. They moved to the San Francisco Bay area where he was a Deputy for San Mateo County and their two sons were born. He enjoyed fishing, camping, touring and being with his family. They moved to Tenino, Washington in 1980 and lived there for thirty years. He worked security at St. Peters Hospital and Port of Olympia until his retirement in 1996. He was an avid historian and collector of World War II memorabilia. He is survived by his wife Mary; sons, Russ (Sherry) and Ron (Christy), Yvette (Stephen); five grand-children, Dallas, Jennie, Andy, Brennon and Tianna; sister Joanne (Chuck) Silveira; brothers, Harold (Mary Jane), Robert and Ronald; niece Lorianne; and nephews Greg and Scott. He was preceded by his parents, Russell and Evelyn. He touched many lives and has always been an example of honesty and strength. He will be dearly missed. Please leave memories and condolences by clicking on "View Guestbook" below.
