Obituary of Gary William Reeves

Beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Gary William Reeves, passed on to a better place on the 14th of April 2010. Gary was born at the family home in East Linden, Columbus, Ohio on the 28th of July 1943, the much loved son of John Lanning and Bertha Kline Reeves.Gary’s childhood was filled with hunting, fishing, and adventures with his brother, Lanny. The family moved to California when he was a teenager and it was there that he was drafted into the Marines and served his country in Viet Nam from November 1965 to November 1967. He moved to the Seattle area in 1972 where he trained salesmen for Cutco knives and Wearever pans. In October 1976 he married Diane Hill. In December 1976 they moved to Michigan for the company he worked for. And after his daughter’s birth in 1978 moved to the Chehalis area to be closer to family. He worked for many years at various auto dealerships in the area as a salesman and finance manager. After he retired, he became manager of Long Road Mobile for a few years before moving to Winlock and helping his son to establish Hart Road Auto. Gary had many passions in life. He loved music, antiques, gardening, traveling, coin collecting, cars, and his country. But Gary’s greatest passion in life was his family. He was a wonderful father to Shanna Frank (Fred), Benjamin Reeves (Amy), and Deanna Reeves and Grandfather to Brayden and Luke William Reeves. Gary also leaves behind his Uncle Charles Marlow and Aunt Sue Marlow of Northridge, CA and sisters; Sylvia Nebeker (Nevelle) Mount Vernon, WA and Diana O’Brien, Everett, WA; and his brothers; Wesley Reeves (Clea) Susanville, CA and Charles Reeves (Melanie) Sparks, NV, a son; Gary Lanning Reinsmith, Pueblo, CO, and many nieces and nephews. Special friends Diane Raappana, Chehalis, WA, and Shelly Hansen, Atascadero, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, John ‘Lanny’ Reeves, and infant grandson Liam Reeves.
