Obituary of Shirley Pfeninger

Shirley Nan Sheets Pfeninger, of Olympia WA, formerly of Villard MN. passed away October 12, 2010.Born November 24, 1919 in Villard, Minnesota to Anne and George Henry Sheets, she was the youngest of five children. Shirley graduated from St. Cloud Teachers College. Shirley was united in marriage to Harold Pfeninger July 3rd 1941, in California, following which the couple moved back to Villard, Minnesota, at which time Harold and his brother Robert (Bob) purchased a business that became Pfeninger Brother’s Trucking. In 1980, due to Harold’s health, Shirley and Harold moved to Yelm WA. They loved WA and had a large circle of friends, many that were from Minnesota. Shirley loved to take walks, read, travel, shop with her daughters, and dance with her best partner, Harold. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Anne and George Henry, her husband Harold, two sisters (Josephine Close and Leila Wachter), and two brothers (Donald Sheets and Kenneth Sheets). She is survived by her children, Darryl (Marshielle) Pfeninger of Yelm WA., Janice (Norman) Broadbent, of Fresno, CA. Linda (David) Newsome, of Olympia, WA., David (Joanie) Pfeninger of Federal Way, WA. and Steve Pfeninger of Parshall, North Dakota; ten grandchildren (Kevin, Diane, Matthew, Brianna, Geena, Dayha, Leah, Devin, Christa and Lacey); four great grandchildren (Kayla, Christian, Quinton and Brittany), and one great-grandson due in March 2011. Shirley is also survived by sister-in-laws, Kathyrn Osendorf, AnnaMae Pfeninger, Lois Wenner, brother-in-law, Harry Wenner and many nieces and nephews. Shirley was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother and friend to all. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. A very special thanks to Al & Thelma Suaviso and all the caregivers of Sound Care Adult Family Homes for all the tender loving care given our Mother since October 2003.
