Obituary of Gerald Norris

Gerald “Jerry” Norris, 74, of Yelm passed away, after a 6 month battle with lung cancer May 5, 2010. Jerry was born August 2, 1935 in Jasper, Indiana to Oliver and Emma (Cannon) Norris. He enjoyed a 30 Year career in the US Air Force. Jerry’s 30 years were spent doing various tasks. His final task was that of Load Master. He spent 4 years in Japan and many miles traveling the world. It was often said that he would have stayed for life in the Air Force, if they would have let him. He married Billie J. Cross, who preceded him in death in October of 1996. He later married Jan Norris on December 18, 1997. Jerry was a driving force in instituting Aerie 4144 Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Yelm. He spearheaded a property purchase and building of their current Aerie Home. He was a Past Worthy President and then Aerie Secretary for many years.Jerry found a real enjoyment in fishing and clam digging and photographing sunsets in the past years. He would head for the beach house every clam season, no matter what the weather was!! He always got his limit! Surviving Jerry are his wife, Janet and son, Gerald C. II; Sisters, Emileen Norris, Sister Margaret Norris, and Sister Winie Sullivan; his extended family, the Ben Crow Family.. He was preceded in death by his first love, Billie J.; his parents; and his brothers William, Joseph, and James; and a sister, Bernice Beck; and his special “Bro” Dick Carrig.
