Obituary of Stephen M. Meyers

Steven Maurice Meyers Steven was born July 3, 1948 to Captain William C. and Charlotte Meyers in Shreveport, LA and died on April 11, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital, Tacoma. He was the best friend and beloved husband of Sharon K. Meyers and is survived by 6 siblings: William, Robert, John, Susan, Mary and Cecelia. Steve was our Hero! He served in South East Asia as a Black Beret dog handler. Steve was exposed to heavy doses of Agent Orange, which led to his death. Just four days before he died, Steven received news he had been recognized and awarded 100% disability by the U.S. Veterans Department. After being discharged from the U.S. Air Force, Stephen enjoyed working with Guide Dogs for the Blind in Marin County, CA. He later worked with the Dept. of the Army at the Presidio of San Francisco while attending S F Junior College Stephen and later went on to graduate from S F State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a secondary in Accounting. Steve and Sharon moved to Lacey, WA from Santa Rosa, CA to help care for his mother, Charlotte. He worked for State of WA. Employment Security Division as a Financial Analyst and later in the SCSEP Program at Employment Security, Veterans section. Steve was great at coming up with fun loving thoughts and trivia. Through the years, his friends came to know him for his sense of humor and infectious laugh. On March 25, 2010, Steve celebrated 24 years Clean and Sober, a most important victory for him and all who knew and loved him.
