Obituary of Henry Edward Lamb

Henry Edward Lamb, 78, of Tumwater, passed away as a result of cancer on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at his home. Henry was born July 10, 1932 in Ellensburg, Washington to Art and Gladys (Mulligan) Lamb. He joined the United States Air Force in 1950. He was discharged in 1952 after a disability while in the service. Henry later worked as a mechanic, truck driver and was also a cab car owner/driver. Henry was married twice. The first time was March 22, 1955 and the second time was September 22, 1988. The unique thing about Henry’s marriages was he married the same women both times. They were meant for each other. He is survived by his wife, the former Doris J. Jones. Henry loved motorcycle riding and driving stock cars in his younger days. He was also an auctioneer and enjoyed collecting coins. He was a member of the American Legion Post #166, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Lion’s Club, the Elks Lodge, 40/8, the Moose Lodge, the State Guard, the Washington Disabled Veterans, the Disabled American Veterans and the Coin Club. For many years, Henry helped with the Special Olympics and was also very involved with the Boy Scouts of America. If there was a veteran that needed help, Henry was there. It was a passion and a priority to help veterans obtain their deserved benefits as well as assisting the spouses and survivors of deceased veterans in receiving their benefits. This was most often done quietly behind the scenes. He received great satisfaction as he offered service to others. Survivors in addition to his wife Doris include, two sons, David Lamb, Spanaway, Michael Lamb, North Port; two daughters, Debbie Smith, Spanaway, Patty Carlson, Eatonville; three brothers, Jack Lamb, Spokane, Jim Francisco, Sacramento, CA and Tony Mulligan, Auburn; five sisters, Emily Richmond, Tacoma, Leora Maxey, Bonnie Lake, Donna Brantzeg, Columbus, South Carolina, Annette Hayes, Kent and Grace De Armand, Renton; also twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. A celebration of Henry’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, August 22, 2010 at 410 “W” Street S.E., Tumwater, Washington 98501.
