Obituary of Joyce Karch

None Joyce Marie Karch Joyce Marie Karch, 80, was born April 17, 1930 in Sedro Woolley, WA to George and Alice (Hansen) Frisk. The family moved to Shelton in 1942, and Joyce graduated high school in 1948. She is survived by: son Terry Dion and wife Jan, of Shelton; daughters Michelle McMath and husband Robert, of Shelton; Jan Petrie and husband John, of Phoenix, AZ; and her sister Joan Sowers and husband Glenn, of Shelton. Joyce also had ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Skip Karch in 1999. Joyce loved spending time with her family sharing the holidays, family birthdays, and countless camping trips. She was an extremely gifted photographer, furniture refinisher, carpenter, potter, and macramé crafter. Known for her love of sports of all kinds, she had season tickets for the Seahawks for many years. She loved her home on the Lake Limerick golf course, and was an enthusiastic, active member of the club until she could no longer golf. Joyce’s working life included Shelton Hardware, Zeigler’s Photography, and Simpson Timber Company. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Joyce’s memory. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 30th at Funeral Alternatives of WA, Inc., 2830 Willamette Dr. N.E., Ste. G, Lacey, WA (phone 1-888-753-1065). Internment will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Mills and Mills Cemetery, 5725 Littlerock Road, Tumwater (phone 360-357-7743).
