Obituary of Marion Leslie Jones

Marion Leslie "Coon" Jones Marion Leslie (Coon) Jones passed on December 7th, 2007 due to post surgery complications at Providence St. Peters Hospital in Olympia WA. He war born on April 26th, 1925 In Tacoma Washington to Darwin and Elizabeth Jones. He grew up in East Olympia and attended East Olympia Elementary School. After serving time in the Navy as ships cook 2nd class he was honorably discharged in 1946. He met Wilma Egolf at the XXX drive-in where she was a carhop and married her two weeks later on April 17th, 1948. In 1964 they opened and operated Jones’ Appliance Repair Service and ran it until retirement in 1986. During their life together they had three children, Dan (Dianna), Vickie, and Jim (Mary) and two grandchildren, Adam and Mackenzie. Marion, besides running the business with his wife, was a deputy chief with McLane Fire Dept. for 28 years, a member of the ELKS organization and the Kiwanis. He is survived by his three children and 2 grandchildren, two sisters Dorothy (Dot) Lormer and Helen (Blondie) Burns and numerous nieces and nephews. Marion was preceded in death by his wife Wilma, his parents and five brothers Lawrence (Bud), Richard (Dick), Delbert, Fay, Lyle (Swede) and one sister Leola (Hettie) Andrews. Family was very important to Marion, especially the 4th of July family reunions. Coon’s personality and sense of humor will never be forgotten.
