Obituary of Carolyn Johnson

Carolyn Katherine Johnson< Carolyn was born March 12, 1937 in Beulah, North Dakota. She passed away on June 5, after a two year battle with cancer. She was the youngest child of Fred and Hulda Maas. One of her first jobs was as a teacher in a one room school house on the North Dakota prairie. Carolyn and her first husband, Donald Yantzer were married on August 29th 1957 in Mandan North Dakota. They moved to Washington state with their three children in 1962. She later married Eugene Johnson in 1979. Carolyn and Gene lived in Seattle for many years and were avid boaters, spending many fun weekends with family and friends aboard their yacht "SeaSun Ticket." Some of their favorite destinations where the San Juan Islands, Vancouver Island, and the South Sound. They were active members of both Rainier and Seattle yacht clubs and made many friends along the way. After they retired they spent many months of the year as snow birds in Fort Myers Beach Florida, where they were also active boaters. They spent the last few years in Shelton Washington, where they purchased a cabin on Lake Limerick. Carolyn worked 22 years for the Seattle Professional Engineering Employees Association (SPEEA) and retired in 1992. Carolyn leaves behind her children Leanne Milligan (Chuck), Laurie Beier (Stephen), Steven Yantzer (Lynn). Her step-daughters include: Pamela Johnson, Rebecca Inman, and Mindy LaBorn (Marvin). Carolyn and Gene's grandchildren include: Aaron Milligan, Kelsey Milligan, Shelby Beier, Eric Beier, Matthew Yantzer, Nicole Yantzer, Justin Mitchell, Christa Inman, Andy Inman, Sarah Echo, Lisa LaBorn, Randy LaBorn, Michelle LaBorn, and Kaitlyn LaBorn. Their great grandchildren include: Madison Ruter, Elizabeth Echo, and Samara Heinermann (deceased). A celebration of Carolyn's life will be from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday June 19th at the home of daughter Laurie Beier, 12711 146th Street East, Puyallup, WA.
