Obituary of Charles Cooke

Friday, January 25, 2013 from 2-4 pm at Funeral Alternatives of Washington, 2830 Willamette Drive NE, Lacey, WA 98513 Charles Irvin Flory Charles, 79, passed away of Leukemia on Monday, January 21, 2013 in Providence Centralia Hospital in Washington. Charles was born on March 31, 1933 to Clara and Allen Harold Flory in Pyrmont, Ohio. He graduated from Brookeville High School in Brookeville, Ohio in 1952. In 1953, he joined the United States Army and was assigned to the 97th General Military Hospital in Frankfurt, Germany until 1955. On September 18, 1955, he married Dixie Lee Golditz in Lewisburg, Ohio. They resided in Troy Ohio for 25 years, 20 years in Mesa and Prescott Valley, Arizona and 10 years in Indiana, moving to the Centralia area a year and a half ago. Charles had worked during this time 40 years with Trans World Airlines, 12 years as a school bus driver for Troy City Schools, and 8 ½ years as a business owner in Arizona. He will be remembered for enjoying the outdoors, hunting, fishing, word puzzles, Euchre, visiting with people, gardening, the Trojan 4H Club, horses and the Seattle Seahawks. Charles had served as a 4H leader for the Trojan 4H Club and was a mounted Deputy Sheriff for Miami County, Ohio. His family will remember that he always gave two thumbs up, and was very outgoing and loving. No one was a stranger. You knew you pushed too far when you saw his tongue sticking of the corner of his mouth. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Dixie Lee Flory; sons, Douglas Charles Flory and wife Cheryl of Chattaroy, WA, Dale Christopher Flory and wife Dawn of Rochester, WA, Denis Conrad and wife Teri of Gosport, Indiana; daughters; brother, Harold of Dearborn, MI; sisters, Mable Little of Brookeville, Ohio, Mildred Selby, Neoma Webster and Ruby Hoke all of Dayton, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Allen Flory; grandparents, Paternal Samuel Irvin and Katie Mae Flory; maternal grandparents, Andrew Jackson and Catherine Ellen Miller; two brothers, Byron and Daryl; and sister, Edith.
