Obituary of Lawrence E. Cook

Lawrence E. “Larry” Cook, a resident of Olympia since 1989, died July 12, 2006 at Madigan Army Hospital following a long battle with Leukemia. He was born in Missoula, Montana on July 21, 1949 to Leonard E. and Hazel B. (Hamilton) Cook. He was raised in Potomac, MT and graduated from Hellgate High School. He also attended Vocational Tech in Missoula. Larry entered the United States Navy in 1969 and retired in 1989 as an Avionics Electronics Technician on the P-3 Orion. Following his military career he began his own Construction business in Olympia. He was a member of Trout Unlimited and Sleater Kinney Baptist Church. He loved fishing and any type of work he could do outside. On December 28, 1973 he married Arlene M. Dykes. She survives him at the family home in Olympia. He is also survived by his daughters, Brianna of Potomac, MT and Eryn of Olympia, brother, LeRoy and his wife Joy of Oregon City, OR and his mother, Hazel of Potomac, MT. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Loran. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 22, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Tumwater. A memorial service will also be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 29, 2006 at the Potomac Community Center in Potomac, Montana Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
