Obituary of Janet Mary Buresh

Janet was born on Dec. 24, 1915 in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. The first child of Mary Young and Loyd Fenton McDonald, she was followed by her brother Loyd and sister Cynthia (Haverlock). Janet’s family moved to the Olympia area in the 1920s, settling on Friendly Grove Road, where she spent the rest of her life. Janet was very involved in the community: square dancing, Friendly Grove Community Hall, Olympia and Boston Harbor Flower Clubs, Nisqually Delta Association, Thurston County Fair, 4-H, Northeast Olympia Association and in her 80s, a tour guide at the State Capitol. She was a business woman raising and selling hundreds of Chrysanthemums from her home. She was married to Dayton Buresh Sr. for 52 years until his death in 1986, and a mom to her three children, Dayton Jr., Charles Loyd and Susan Buresh McLain. Janet is survived by her son, Dayton Jr. with his wife Hannelore and their two sons, Mike and Harold Buresh, as well as her daughter Susan with her husband David McLain and their 3 children Corrie McLain Katzenmaier, Josiah and Teresa McLain.
