Les & I were friends since 1956 which began as neighbors and continued until his passing. As the years went by we would run into each other on occasion and it was always great to see him. I was always proud to call him my friend and he will be missed not only by me but anyone who was lucky enough to know him.
God Bless Buddy,
Jerry Metcalf

Sorry to hear of your loss. I didn’t know Leslie Jr but I knew his father. He was a great influence on my life. He was my mother Cora’s half brother.

It was a privilege to have Les as my next-door neighbor…a thoughtful and considerate man. Yes, a man of few words and fiercely independent, (he would never accept an offer of a home-cooked meal), but his goodness shone thru. Fun to see his routine of going off to play chess with the fellews and evenings, heading to the Rec room with his mug to watch TV on the big screen. I have missed him now, for months, and am very saddened to hear of his death. My sympathy goes out to the 3 sisters that I met in the hallway, outside his door, and to the remainder of his family. He added a smooth quality to those of us who lived near, and cared about him. We indeed miss him.

Even though I only met Les a few times I could see the love he had for his sister Dianne and she for him. He was quiet and unassuming and very quiet. But I do remember when he smiled he just lit up. Les was much loved and will be sorely missed by his brother and sisters.
