Obituary of Carol Laraine Tower

Carol Larraine Tower passed away March 3, 2024, in Olympia, Washington.

She was born June 8, 1944, to Harold and Edna Larsen in the family home in east Tacoma, Washington. Carol was the eldest of three children, followed by Dorothy and Donald. She cherished family, growing up with cousins, aunts and uncles.

Carol graduated from Puyallup High School in 1962 and Washington State University in 1966. While attending WSU, Carol met Earl “Butch” Tower while they both were working at the A&W drive-in. Carol would leave her shift early to get back to the dorm by curfew, leaving Butch to clean the milkshake machines.  The two married on September 17, 1965.  Carol not only gained a husband but also a stepson, Tad.

As an Army wife, Carol traveled from post to post until Earl left the service and they set up home in Spokane, Washington. In May 1972, Carol gave birth to her son, Bradly. They moved to Lacey, Washington, to follow a job opportunity for Earl.  In June 1974, she gave birth to her daughter, Sara.

Besides being a wife and mother, Carol worked for Child Protective Services and then was a social worker at Olympia’s Providence St. Peter Hospital.

She loved to garage sale, travel, garden, and was proud of her Norwegian heritage. Being part of a large family was important to her. The Larsen family picnic was one of her favorite events of the year.  Most of all, Carol loved her grandchildren. She was a proud grandma and recently great-grandma. She enjoyed spending time with them all and was happy to share their achievements with anyone she met.

Carol is survived by her children, Bradley H. Tower and Sara C. Adams, both of Olympia; stepson, W. Tad Tower of Wallace, Idaho; grandchildren, Violet Tower, Mason Adams, Corey Adams, Justin Adams, J.D. Tower, Stevie Tower and Greg Tower; and great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Adams.  She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Earl W. “Butch” Tower in August 2023; and grandchildren, Ben Tower, Madie Tower, and Sam Tower.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, March 28, 2024, 10:30 a.m. at South Sound Manor, 455 North St. SE, Tumwater, WA 98501.  Luncheon to follow.
