I met Bill and Virginia while I was working as church secretary in Pioneer Methodist Church in Walla Walla. Both set the standard as to what Christian behavior should be like. Lovely, kind, thoughtful people. Since they moved to the Seattle area, I've missed them a lot!

I am so sorry to hear of Virginia's passing. I remember Virginia and Bill joining us in worship on Sunday mornings at First Congregational Church in Walla Walla. I participated in a banner project with Virginia guiding us in the project long ago. I remember Bill preaching at times on Sundays. Both of your folks were a blessing to our church family.
I remember running into Virginia and Bill at St Martin's University after they had moved away. My family had moved to Olympia/Lacey for a few years. I had the opportunity to visit a few minutes and catch up with them.
I think of your folks frequently as I am in and out of the alleyway from Marcus to Park, coming and going from church. I don't drive by their old home without thinking of Virginia and Bill, and missing them.

I remember Virginia and Bill very fondly. They were present at every Walla Walla peace demonstration through the 90's and early 2000's, often adding their words and prayers. I love the photo of Virginia. It so well shows her sweet, kind, cheerful nature. I enjoyed reading about their family and constant outreach to so many with so many different needs. True instruments of Christ's peace! Rest in peace together, Virginia and Bill.

I learned about visual arts with her at the Jubilate Summer Workshops on Worship and the Arts. I remember her as one who shared her quiet, gentle joy generously, even as she was strong in her commitment to social action and justice. I give thanks for her life.

The whole Berney family are so special to us Campbells. Our parents remained close over the years since being at Garrett and Yale together. I remember them celebrating their common wedding anniversary date together - in places near water, as I recall. Ginny, as I knew her, was so gracious. She gave so much of herself, as described in her life story here. While much of my time with her was with various family members, I did visit her and Bill in Walla Walla by myself and our conversation there was just one example of the "warmth and hospitality and her genuine interest in others" that they say here. She lived her life well! - Donna (Campbell) Stock
