Obituary of Elizabeth Freiburger Grzebski

Elizabeth "Liz" Freiburger Grzebski was born in Kolut, Yugoslavia, August 10, 1938, the youngest of the three children of Jakob and Katarina Freiburger of Dettelbach, Germany. She passed away peacefully at home, with family, following a prolonged illness, on February 13, 2021, in Olympia, Washington.

Liz grew up in and around the towns of Dettelbach and Kitzingen in the state of Bavaria, Germany, where she met and married her soldier husband, Mark Grzebski.  In addition to raising her five children during and subsequent to 30 years as an Army wife, Liz was always active in supporting soldiers, spouses and communities, having been recognized for such by numerous commanders and agencies.

Besides spending time with her family, she most enjoyed her volunteer service with the American Red Cross in military pharmacies, with the Arlington Ladies in the Military District of Washington, in Army Community Services, and in her volunteer work in military thrift shops.

At the time of her passing, she was survived by her husband of 57 years, Mark; daughters, Dayan, Linda and Michelle; sons, Larry and Steven; three grandchildren, Mark, Jessica and Katelyn; and one great-grandchild, Iris.
