Dear Kaila ~ I am grateful to have met you at our shared place of work. Everything your family wrote in your honor perfectly describes the qualities you radiated. I am also grateful to have seen you for the last time outside your parent's home that sunny afternoon, when you introduced me to Finn. Full of life, embraced in summer's warm golden glow. This is the memory I will hold.
Thank you for your gifts to the World. May your family be held in love, support, and grace. ~ Kelly Annette M.

My heart breaks for Kaila's family. I have such fond memories of the friendship between Kaila, Danielle and my Brigit when they met at Sparkleberry's Preschool. I think of our Tea Party and multiple play-dates. It warmed my heart to read about her life. What a wonderful young woman and I am sure that she left an indelible mark on the souls of so many. Many blessings to you. Maureen Callaghan and family

One of the kindest people I have ever met. In high school I remember her organizing the youth suicide prevention council and going around to different middle school classes and giving speeches with her. It was such a selfless act and an important cause. I always reflect on those days and my memories of her positively. I also remember graduation parties and she was always a ton of fun to hang out with and play lawn games with, specifically I remember playing a lot of badminton! She is greatly missed.

Kaila and I first became friends during summer soccer league. We may not have won very many games, but I distinctly remember our joyous celebrations in the middle of the field after loosing by a landslide. We would link arms and scream the “ole ole ole” song as we danced away our disappointment in the summer sun. Our friendship continued into high school as we enjoyed many classes together, sat at each others lunch table, and shared an interest in actually studying for an upcoming test (unlike most of our lunch buddies ). My last in-person memory with Kaila was a short and chaotic year book signing as we scrambled in excitement to end our years as seniors and start our independent journeys into young adulthood. We laughed as we attempted to balance each others books and write while newly freed seniors screamed down halls and out the school doors for the last time. Though our paths diverged at this moment physically, I have enjoyed watching her life though the lens of modern technology. We remained Facebook friends, sharing a quick ‘happy birthday!’ here and there, as well as words of encouragement during times of sorrow and congratulations during the happier of times. Though shorter than deserved, her life has been nothing but a beauty to behold. It is a privilege to have been impacted by Kaila. Her joy, laugh, and appreciation for life will carry on in all of us. “Ole, ole, ole, oleee” Kaila! May you dance in the summer sun for eternity.

Kaila was sefless and had such a kind heart. She was a great friend but the way she loved those kids at the YMCA was inspiring. I had the opportunity to volunteer with her and those kids knew that Kaila was their advocate and their safe place. Even in highschool she was someone safe that I could talk to. She touched so many lives and I'm so thankful for the memories shared.

Sweet Kaila. We knew her and loved her as one of Claire's good friends. When I think of her, it's her beautiful smile I see first. We are so sorry she is gone so soon.
Love,
Mary and John Fleckenstein

Kaila was one of the most wonderful, fun, kind people I've ever met and I was SO lucky to have her in my life during some of my most formative years. She cared for my brother, sister and I with such joy, light, and kindness. Because of Kaila, our summers were always filled with adventure. As I grew older, I got to know Kaila as not just a nanny/caretaker, but also as a role model. She has always awed me with her deep empathy. She radiates a light that you don't see all that often. It hurts to know that all those years I was in college, I had to miss out on some of Kaila's biggest moments like her wedding, or meeting Baby Finn... she was always there for mine. I will always carry such a love in my heart for Kaila, and I wish her the utmost peace in her next stage of life. I know she will continue to live on through us all through the many profound ways she touched each of our lives.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My heart aches. What a beautiful summary of her life and the angel she was in her journey on this earth. I am sure that there would never be enough words to describe such a beautiful gift. May her memories comfort you and may her mark in this world be long remembered and passed to generations to come.
Much love and hugs, Clarita Mattox.

Mike and I join with the Rants and Jorgensen families and friends in celebrating the life of beautiful Kaila. We are heartsick to learn of her passing, because she truly was a JOY to this world.
We feel very fortunate to have shared over a decade with the Rant's family in Centerwood Ct. It was fun to see our daughter play with Kaila, Danielle, and Logan and to have a fun culdesac life. We always looked forward to Kaila's smile of greeting and to her simply lovely essence. We are glad to have memories of swing sets, dress-up's, art activities, Girl Scouts and middle school dances to remember. One of my favorite memories of Kaila is seeing her on the front porch of the Centerwood Home with one grandmother or the other. She always seemed delighted in being with her grandmother's, her face was alight, as they each nurtured her, and as she clearly filled their lives with happiness. When I would walk or drive by, I always smiled at these beautiful scenes.
She was a very accomplished young woman, and her gifts were used fully to make the world a better place. Please accept our condolences during this time of loss.
In sympathy and love, Mike and Sue Ardington

Kaila is and will be always to me this little shiny (and a little bit crazy) girl that I met speaking only French or Spanish. We found a good way to communicate by sharing great moments rolling in the living room, playing in the backyard, laughing a lot...
I felt for the first time like a big sister with her, Danielle and Logan. I can't stop thinking of her since Helen's video call and each time I can see her smile. Kaila will live forever through her family and the heart of each people she met.
Love you Helen, Pat, Danielle and Logan. Aaron and Finn, I have no words to ease your pain.
Marion

This is truly heartbreaking news. I was in the ed program at SOU with Kaila, and she had the most radiant, sweet, and positive spirit! She will be greatly missed. Sending out love and prayers to Kaila’s family! I know she’s up in heaven continuing to shine bright.
