I only just heard about the passing of Glen, and was very sad to hear so. I lost touch with him in the 80s so knew nothing of his work and interests. I knew him in the 70s, through working at Seattle Public Library and he also lived in the same apartment building as a friend of mine. I also knew his adoptive parents who were very sweet people. Glen was such a kind and lovely person to be around. My very late condolences to his wife, Janet. Gayle

I felt Glen was a good friend. He smiled and enjoyed the beauty of nature around. I will miss him and will remember to put some tobacco onto the fire and say thanks for being.

We had first met Glen when we were neighbors in Wallingford in Seattle. He was doing gardening then and had a lovely garden. When we moved to Olympia in the 80's we had found him again. Glen did some great work in our yard and had such a lovely hand with trees and shrubs. He was inspirational and had a tender way with living things. The earth will be missing a kind friend. Be well Glen, knowing that you left friends of all kinds behind. In honor of his gentle spirit. Colleen and Ken/ family....

Glen and I “batched” together in the 1980’s at The Farm on 14th. He was gentle (he once admonished me for punching my fist into a ball of bread dough,) and kind (I was vomiting in the middle of the night, and he awoke to come hold my hand.)
More recently I was able to help carry his groceries home since he wanted to shop for himself because Sue wouldn’t get the secret goodies that he had a hankering for. Ha!
Glen takes a special place in my best memories. Lew Cox

Glen was unfailingly thoughtful, cheerful. and curious. I had the great pleasure of having him as a student in a summer course at Evergreen a few years ago....he brought such wisdom and a sense of inquiry to our small class and we all were the better for it. In recent months, I volunteered to drive Glen to Oly Friends Meeting occasionally...it was one of the few times we could talk 1:1...and we had the most interesting and pleasurable conversations going and coming each way...about all sorts of things. In spite of his debilitating disease, Glen never lost his intellectual curiosity or sense of humor. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered...

I was so sad to find out that a sweet man like Glen had passed away. I first met Glen in 1989 at Olympic Drug where I worked part time and he had a mailbox there. He was known as the Ornamental Gardner and gave me some help removing a Japanese Maple tree from my yard for a memorial for a friends son that had passed. Bless his heart he will be remembered as a lovely, sweet ,kind and caring man. Margaret (Margie) Allen.

We had seen Glenn at the South Sound Fruit Society a few years back, but didn't get to know him till we met him again at the ALS group this spring. He added so much to discussions there! His openness and authenticity was disarming and endearing and said what was in so many of our hearts. His sense of humor was infectious. He was a true gentle-man, kind and compassionate. The group this week shared our collective sorrow and loss upon learning of his passing. Having known him for just a short time, I was not at all surprised by the rich legacy of service, compassion and love he leaves behind. May his memory be for a blessing!

Glen was a customer of mine for many years. He was a kind and giving man, who always had a good thing to say. One fond memory I have of him, was after I bought my home in '13 he spontaneously offered to identify the plants and trees on the property. The info he provided changed our landscaping plans for the better! He was a wealth of knowledge and positivity and will be missed.

It was a delight to get to know Glen these last few years. I was particularly happy to know that he loved to sing rounds, and in one memorable evening he taught rounds to a small group of friends. Glen, you'll be missed. Your life had value and love and joy, and my life is better because you were a part of it.

Dear Janet, Nancy sent me Glen's obituary. I was so sorry to read of his passing due to ALS. It must have been a very difficult struggle for you both. I've been grappling with a variant (PLS) for many years.
I'm sorry I never got to meet Glen. Judging from his obituary I can tell he was an interesting, wonderful, fun-loving man with a great big heart. And very smart. I'm sure he was much loved by you and his extended family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Again, I'm sorry I didn't get to meet Glen, but I think often of the Partlow family. They were our dearest friends.
With love and sincere condolences,
Sally Ware

My husband and I didn't know Glen very well. But, I was struck last year by his willingness to take on a board position with the SSFS despite his condition. His sense of humor was inspiring. It just showed how much he loved life and how he refused to give in to his condition. Our condolences to his family and friends.

So sorry to hear. I sang with Glen for at least several years in the SPSCC choir, under Molly McNamara and also Paul Nahkla (directing in Shelton last I knew). Glen did indeed love to sing, and was kind and loved to laugh. I also know he worked with students with autism for at least several of the years that he worked as a paraeducator. My deepest condolances to all of Glen's family and close friends.
