Obituary of John D. Zinnikas Jr.

John David Zinnikas Jr. passed away due to complications of Parkinson’s disease on September 26, 2019 in Olympia, Washington, his home of 44 years.  He was born October 26, 1938 to John David Zinnikas Sr. and Theresa Mary (Kozak) Zinnikas in Wyandotte, Michigan. Over the years, he also lived in Detroit, Michigan, and Walnut Creek, California.

 

John earned a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.  He worked for Kaiser Permanente and the State of Washington Department of Social and Health Services, from which he retired.

 

He is survived by his wife, Terri J. (Hickam) Zinnikas; son, John D. Zinnikas; stepsons, Scott Hankins and Grant Hankins; daughters, Judy Borrelli (husband, Nick) and Peggy Baker; grandchildren, Jesse Christoffer, Jessica Borrelli, Nicole Borrelli, Cody Hankins, Maggie Tedford, Emily Hankins, Tiger Hankins, Artemia Settle, and Jacob Hieb; brothers, Daniel and Thomas Zinnikas; and sister, Carol Zuchlewski (husband, Thomas).

 

A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, October 4, 2019, 12:00 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1208 11th Ave. SE, Olympia, WA 98501.
