Obituary of Dorothy "Charlene" Fykerud

Dorothy “Charlene” Fykerud passed away February 27, 2019 in Tumwater, Washington.  For 50 years, she lived in the same house she and her husband, Carl, built in Raymond, Washington.

Charlene was born February 14, 1931 to Robert Ward Givens and Lillie Belle Givens in Union County, Illinois. She graduated from Raymond High School in 1949, and took business courses at Grays Harbor College in Aberdeen, Washington (1949 – 1950).  She married Carl Mikael Fykerud Sr. on December 28, 1950 in Pocohontas, Arkansas.

Charlene retired as a secretary at Raymond High School after working there 30 years. She was a member of the Baptist church in South Bend, Washington.

She was very faith- and family-oriented.  In her earlier years, she looked forward to traveling to Illinois to see her parents and other relatives. She loved cooking and baking, tending to her flowers and landscaping, caring for her pets, fishing, and playing board games and puzzles.
