Obituary of Wilmetta Irene Albers

Wilmetta Irene (Scott) Albers was born March 24, 1935 in Blue Springs, Gage County, Nebraska to Roy and Jewel Scott, the second daughter.  She moved with her parents, two sisters and a brother to Mountain Home, Idaho in February 1945.  She passed away February 26, 2019 at Capitol Medical Center in Olympia, Washington.

Irene graduated from Mountain Home High School in May 1953, and enrolled in St. Alphonsus Hospital School of Nursing in Boise, Idaho in September 1953 in Boise, Idaho, graduating in August 1956.

Irene was married to Don M. Albers on September 14, 1956 in Mountain Home.  She worked as a nurse in Yuba City, California, while starting and raising a family with Don.  She and Don returned to Idaho in 1967 to be closer to her family.  She returned to St. Alphonsus Hospital to work as a supervising nurse.  Irene then moved in 1979 with Don to Kennewick, Washington, where Don took a job with WSDOT.  She and Don moved to Olympia in Sept 1984.  While in Olympia, she worked at Providence St. Peter Hospital in the obstetrics department, retiring in 1995.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her oldest sister, Millie and her husband Ray Smith; her brother, Richard; and her daughter.

She is survived by her husband, Don; her sons, Melvin and wife Carol of Spanaway, Washington, Lewis of Olympia, and Arthur and wife Lisa of Olympia; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Baker of Silver Peak, Nevada; four nieces; and two nephews.
