Obituary of Larry A. Culwell
Larry A. Culwell, 65, passed away January 8, 2019 in Olympia, Washington, his home of 48 years. He was born March 14, 1953 to A.B. and Margaret Culwell in Portland, Oregon.
Larry graduated from Bend High School (Oregon) in 1971. He started in the restaurant business in 1969, later becoming the head chef at Westwater Inn, from which he retired in 2012. He also was lead meat cutter and smokehouse operator at Tri-City Meats.
Larry married Debbie Hoffman on August 9, 1987 in Reno, Nevada. They enjoyed 32 wonderful years together. He was kind, easy going, funny, welcoming, and a great listener. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, reading, and spending time with family and his beloved dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Culwell; son, Robert Horton, wife, Cheryl, and their children, Alex and Madeline; son, Dennis Horton, wife, Ruth, and their children, Jonathan and Adeline; mother, Margaret Culwell, and his brother, Lynn Culwell. He was predeceased by his father, A.B. Culwell; and brother, Les Culwell.
A celebration of Larry's life will be held Sunday, January 20, 2019, 12:00 p.m. at South Sound Manor, 455 North St. SE, Tumwater, WA 98501.
