Obituary of Richard Bruce Danell

Richard Bruce Danell passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the age of 81 in Centralia, Washington, at the Prestige Rehab Center. He was born to John and Agnes Danell on May 23, 1937. At that time, they were living on the West side of Olympia in a house built over the water. In 1950, the family moved to Eureka, California, when Bruce was 13.  He attended Humboldt State College after graduating from high school.  His first job was in Portland, Oregon, where he worked for a camera store. It was at that time that he was moved to offer his life in the ministry.  From 1959 to 1983, he gave his time and energy to serving others in his capacity as a minister working in South Idaho, North Idaho and also Washington.

 

After his time in the ministry, Richard lived in Olympia and worked as a lifeguard and loved teaching all ages of children to swim. After completing his course for information processing at South Puget Sound Community College, he worked for the State of Washington and was known as an excellent typist. He enjoyed working with his hands as a craftsman with wood, leather, and photography. He enjoyed the outside, gardening, fishing, and hiking. He resided in Bellevue before his retirement, then he returned to Olympia.      

 

A brother, Dave Danell of Olympia, Washington, and a sister, Myrna Danell currently in Anchor Point, Alaska, survive him. Preceding him in death are his parents; a brother, Bob; and a sister, Janice.
