Obituary of Michael Scott Proffitt

Michael Scott Proffitt died of pancreatic cancer on December 15, 2018 in Olympia, Washington. He was born March 26, 1959 to Joseph Lee and Bobbie Ann Proffitt in Olympia.  He graduated from North Thurston High School in 1977 and has been a lifelong chef. Mike owned Proffitt’s Café in downtown Olympia in the 1990s and cooked for many people throughout his lifetime. That was his passion. In addition to cooking, he loved his family and friends, fishing, music, and reading. He was a loving and generous man who will truly be missed by all.

He is survived by his sons, Gregory Proffitt (wife, Basak) of Montgomery, Alabama, and Jason Proffitt of Vietnam; sisters, JoAnne Attwood (husband, Jeff) of Olympia, and Nancy Dunagan (husband, Mike) of Yelm, Washington; and multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.  He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, William Proffitt and David Proffitt.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018, 2:00 – 5:00 p.m., 8724 Heavenly Ct. SE, Olympia, WA 98501.
