I was so surprised and so very sorry to hear of Fred's passing. I haven't spoken with Fred since I retired from the Liquor Board 13 years ago. I was a district manager in the retail division and worked with Fred most often via the phone, but always made sure to visit with him when I was in Olympia. He always made time for us, always replied to my phone messages and when he didn't know the answer, made sure he researched the issue until he found what was needed and quickly replied. I loved working with Fred because he had such a calming demeanor when I and my cohorts might be involved in frantic situations. The Y2K POS meltdown comes immediately to mind! And no one could tell a funny story without cracking a smile like Fred.
Rest easy now, Fred. My sincere condolences to the family.

I will share my some of my best memories of Fred during his celebration of life. I know that Fred would want us to remember him but not to be sad for him. He led a good life, with a good family, good friends, and he lived a life full of accomplishments. We will miss you like crazy. We love you and your family.

I'm so sorry to hear of Fred's passing, Debra and family please accept my deepest sympathy.
I had the great pleasure of working for Fred for many years at Liquor Control Board. He will always be my favorite "boss" of all of my employers. Fred was smart, respectful, funny, fair and just an all around good person. At the time I worked for him he supervised a group of about 6 to 8 of us, he knew the value of keeping work fun which motivated us all to go above and beyond. We worked together as a really tight team because of it and always met or exceeded our
deadlines. He was always the calming presence in a sometimes hectic environment, I never once saw him get angry or even close to losing his professional yet fun demeanor.
He'll be missed I know by everyone who ever came to know him. RIP.
