Obituary of Jacqueline (Jorgensen, MD) Heimgartner

Jacqueline Jorgensen, MD (Mrs. Norman Heimgartner) was born March 3, 1929 in Denver, Colorado.  She received her BA degree from the University of Colorado, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa society; her MD was also received from the University of Colorado.  Her internship and fellowship were in Pediatrics and Allergy and Immunology at Buffalo Children’s Hospital, Buffalo, New York.

 

In 1960, she returned to Denver, where she was attending physician at the Children’s Asthma Research Institute.  She remained there eight years before moving to Greeley, Colorado, where she was in private practice for six years.  In 1974, she moved to Tacoma, Washington, and practiced medicine with Allergy Associates at Allenmore Medical Center, retiring in 1995.

 

She was a member of the American Medical Association, the Tacoma Academy of Internal Medicine, Society of Internal Medicine, and the Academy of Allergy.  She served as a board member of the Washington Lung Association from 1979 to 1988.

 

Jacqueline passed away August 1, 2018 in Olympia, Washington.

 

She is survived by her husband of 60 yeaars, Dr. Norman Heimgartner; four children, Christopher (Jodi), Roderic (Kelly), Erica (Eric Iversen) and Margrethe; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

She enjoyed classical music, playing the piano, reading and traveling.
