Obituary of Nancy Jane Hewitt

Nancy Jane Hewitt, 86, passed away June 18, 2018 in Charlotte, North Carolina, her home the last eight years.  She was born October 6, 1931 to Glen and Dorothy (Aschinger) Ford in Columbus, Ohio.  She lived in Olympia, Washington from 1972 to 2010 and truly considered it her home!  Over the years, she also lived in Portland, Oregon; Vancouver, Washington; Massachusetts; and Connecticut.

Nancy worked for Nationwide Insurance and moved from Ohio to Portland to help expand and open new offices on the West Coast. While in Portland, she met Donald William Hewitt at church, and they were married January 18, 1963. Nancy worked at the Information Center in Vancouver, Washington.  In 1972, Nancy, Donald and their two daughters moved to Olympia.

Nancy’s family and friends were the most important things in the world to her!  She also loved the Lord with innocence and trust that was felt by those around her. The Hewitt family joined Westwood Baptist Church in 1975, where they developed lifelong friends. Nancy was involved in many volunteer activities at the church, including helping with wedding receptions.  Volunteering was important to Nancy, and she volunteered 26 years at Olympia Junior Programs, and also was involved with Girl Scouts.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammi Vaubel, and son-in-law, Erik Vaubel, of Belfair Washington; daughter, Terriann Silvestri, son-in-law, Mike Silvestri, and grandchildren, Travis (Amber) Connor, Max Silvestri, and Dominic Silvestri; brother, Doug Ford; and sister, Joan Ford.  She was predeceased by her husband, Donald W. Hewitt (2009); and brother, David Ford.
