Jim was a member of Tumwater Rotary for a number of years. He was one of my all-time favorite Rotarians. Great sense of humor, wonderful and very clever writer, heart of gold. In fact, reading this obituary, I strongly suspect that Jim wrote it himself and, like all of his writing did, it makes me smile. I miss knowing he is on the planet. Annie and family, my deepest sympathy, and my thanks for sharing him with us!

Jim was a mentor to me in my earliest days as a consumer advocate in the utility regulatory field, in the late 70's and early 80's. He taught me to take some things very seriously, but to never let that serious tone follow me away from the hearing room. He was a terrific public servant, helped save Washington utility consumers literally BILLIONS of dollars over his career, and we're still searching for an adequate replacement.

Annie - I was terribly sorry to read about Jim's death. I wish I could give you a hug. I have very fond memories of the UTC days -- especially the evenings when the Seahawk game tickets were distributed at the beginning of each season, and attending the games together. Those were good times. I hope you are surrounded by the love of family and friends. Maybe Jim and John will cross paths "up there".
With Sympathy
Cindy Hough

A few more pictures. Dad told people that the reason his hair was gone was because he once stood too close to the fan above the stove. Karen and I kept trying to put it back, but it just never did stick. :)
Dad didn't just sing his songs in the shower - he taught us a few. I'll share lyrics of one of my favorites.
Caviar comes from a virgin sturgeon
A virgin sturgeon's a very rare fish
A virgin sturgeon needs no urgin'
That's why caviar's a very rare dish

Everything I know about being a class act, I learned from this great man. His generosity and love for life will never be matched. I raise my glass and tip my hat to you my good sir. Well done, and good show!
