Mary Ann Schoonover

Obituary of Mary Ann Schoonover

Mary Ann Schoonover, age 71, passed away due to complications of cancer on March 13, 2020 in Olympia, Washington.  She was born November 27, 1948, to Leo and Agatha Senger in Minot, North Dakota.  Mary Ann moved to Eugene, Oregon in 1964, to Milwaukie, Oregon in 1967, to Portland, Oregon in 1970, and then, in the early 1990s, she became a snowbird, spending time living between Washington and Arizona.

Mary Ann graduated with the class of 1966 from Sheldon High School in Eugene.  Shortly after high school, she married Dennis Schoonover. Together they created two incredible boys and eventually divorced after 16 years.  She then shared the remainder of her life with her soulmate, Jim Morris, beginning in 1987.  They shared 33 wonderful years together.

Professionally, Mary Ann was a secretary at Blue Cross Blue Shield from 1976 to approximately 1984. She then worked for a church in Centralia, Washington, from late 2000s to early 2006, and also worked as a receptionist for an optometrist for period of time. When she retired, she focused on living a simple happy life, traveling, making and selling her products, spending time with family, reading, and relaxing with Jim.

Mary Ann was an Amazing mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter and friend. She had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.  She was incredibly sensitive, and loved unconditionally.

Mary Ann is survived by her soulmate/partner, James Morris (Olympia); son, Bill Schoonover (Portland); daughter-in-law, Leslie Cox (Portland); three grandchildren, Sheldon, Andrew and Cassy; two great grandchildren, Carson and Aria; brothers, Ron Senger (Portland), Mark Senger (Clackamas, Oregon), John Senger (Gladstone, Oregon), and Francis Senger (Milwaukee, Oregon); and sisters, Diane Strasser (Mt. Vernon, Oregon), Janice Lemere (Portland), and Linda Jayne (Milwaukee). She was predeceased by her son, Terry Schoonover (1995); parents; and brother, Roy Senger.

A celebration of life will be planned in the “near future,” possibly summer 2020.  Family may be contacted directly for further information, and updates will be posted on Bill Schoonover’s Facebook page.
